Children

 
At Kent First Church of the Nazarene, we view children through the eyes of Jesus. He recognized the value of childhood and celebrated the wonderful state of being a child. Children are a valuable gift from God and are God's special creations. We believe that the early years of one's life are critical to their spiritual development, and thus we want to love, teach and guide each child as they journey along their spiritual path. We desire for each child to begin to walk with Jesus for the rest of their lives.
 
Our Goals are:
  • to partner with families and with God in bringing a child into a personal relationship with Jesus
  • to teach children about God and His Bible in an engaging, life-changing and fun way
  • to love and accept children as they are, giving them a sense of security, love and value
 
NURSERY

Our nursery is a safe and loving environment for infants through two years of age. Our nursery volunteers provide special care for each child who is entrusted to us during all worship services. Our goal is to not just provide “child care”, it is to begin to instill in children, even at this young age, a knowledge of the love of Jesus.

PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN  (B.U.G.S. – Bringing Us God’s Story)

Our Preschool department is another vital area of our church. It continues to develop the spiritual foundation that was started in the nursery, not only by preparing children for the next class, but by giving them a genuine example of Christ’s unconditional love.

Classes are available for children age 3 through kindergarten.

 

We also wish to provide an avenue for young children to experience worship and begin to learn how to worship God. Following is the worship schedule:

 

1st Sunday ~~ Family Worship (Children join their families for the Worship Gathering.)

2nd – 5th Sundays ~~ Children are downstairs for Café Fellowship and BUGSnWorship. (Sometimes the leaders bring the children upstairs to the sanctuary to participate together in the opening music portion of the Worship Gathering.

ELEMENTARY

Sunday School – 9:00 a.m.

Kind/1st/2nd Grade ~~ Room 130 with Mrs. Montgomery

3rd/4th/5th Grade ~~ Room 131 with Mrs. Johnson

 

Kidz Worship – 10:30 a.m.

Children experience and participate in worship through special weekly emphasis:

 

1st Sunday ~~ Family Worship (Children join their families for the Worship Gathering.)

2nd Sunday ~~ Missions Emphasis (Children join their families for the music portion of the Worship Gathering upstairs, then are dismissed to KidzChurch for a special missions lesson.)

3rd and 4th Sunday ~~ Totally KidzWorship (Children have their own worship service using Kidz Own Worship.)

5th Sunday ~~ Uniquely KidzWorship (Something special each time.)

Kids Quizzing – 5:30 p.m.

Quizzing is a 20-week Bible Study for children. We meet on Sunday evenings, September-April from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The purpose of the program is to help children study the Bible and learn Bible facts in a fun and interesting way. This year’s study is on Matthew. Quizzing is open to children in 1st through 6th grades.
